By merely looking at San Juan Pools and Spas today and ignoring the
past, you would miss so much. What are we all about? What have we
been through? It is a story that spans over 40 years, and it revolves
around our founders, J.D. and Artice Privett.

J.D. and Artice Privett embody those qualities that we hold in high
esteem. They are qualities that were obtained as they struggled to
form their business. Both were born during the depression to poor
farming families in Tennessee. Newly married, J.D. and Artice moved
to Pekin, Illinois in 1951 to find work. Within ten years J.D. had
learned the carpenter’s trade and started his own business. He
helped people build their dreams by building churches, homes, and
schools. Times were good.

However, the economy had a major downturn, a fire destroyed their
building, financial setbacks, and numerous health problems all
threatened their own dreams. But those qualities we hold dear today
helped them through. The stories are numerous, and the lessons
learned are priceless. J.D. and Artice taught us well by continuing to
live what they learned. Now, as we enter the second generation of leadership with Joseph D. Privett and Russell L. Hinderliter we look
forward to the future as we honor these principles from the past.
